By Alexander Taits

Hello, my name is Alexander Taits. I am CEO of a start-up company FusionFlight, and PhD Student at ASU. On January 1st, 2015, I launched a Kickstarter campaign to develop the first-ever drone powered by four small jet-engines – JetQuad. I hope to eventually mass-produce these drones for the sale to the drone community.

JetQuad is expected to achieve a top-speed of just below the speed of sound with a flight-ceiling of approximately 33,000 feet. Running on full-power, the JetQuad will consume all 100 ounces of stored on-board Jet-A fuel in approximately 3-minutes.

A successful demonstration flight of the JetQuad will permit FusionFlight to continue advancing jet-engine powered vertical flight technology. The companies’ long-term goal is to build a scaled-up version of the JetQuad with enough lift capacity to boost large rockets and payloads to the atmosphere’s edge.

The Kickstarter campaign is expected to end on January 30, 2015.
